In 1921, Francis Haseman started a small insurance agency in downtown Linton. His son Bill Haseman came to work for his father in 1949 and together they operated Haseman and Sons Insurance. In 1962, they hired my father Ron Brown as an agent, and he quickly took over the insurance operations for the Haseman family while they focused on the real estate business.  In 1972, they sold the agency to my father, and the name was changed to Ron Brown Insurance. I joined my father in the business in 1984, and upon my father’s retirement in 1992, started purchasing the business from him. In 2004, I purchased the Bill Cravens Agency and combined the two offices and changed the name to Richard Brown Insurance. The Cravens agency had been started by Mr. Craven’s grandfather around the turn of the century.

I currently still have polices with the original company that Mr. Haseman started with in 1921 and some clients that have been continuously insured under the same policy for over 50 years. Through four generations and two families, our agency has served the Linton community for over 100 years.

 

Richard Brown – Rich started in the insurance business in 1984 and purchased the family business in 1994. His focus is on Commercial and Personal insurance as well as Life and Medicare Supplement Insurance. He is also a licensed Real Estate Appraiser specializing in residential appraisal work.  Mr. Brown is actively involved in the community having served as past president of the Linton Rotary Club and the Linton Stockton Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the Linton First Christian Church and serves on the board.
